iPhone 15 Pro Leaks: What We Know So Far

iPhone 15 Pro Leaks

iPhone 15 Leaks

Apple has just launched the iPhone 14 series in September 2022, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours and leaks about the next-generation iPhone 15 Pro models. According to various sources, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max (or Ultra) could feature some major upgrades over their predecessors, such as a titanium body, a periscoping camera, a Touch ID sensor and an Apple-made 5G modem. Here’s what we know so far about these potential features.

Titanium curved edges

One of the most intriguing rumours about the iPhone 15 Pro models is that they could have a titanium rim around them instead of stainless steel. Titanium is a strong and lightweight metal that is more resistant to scratches and corrosion than steel. It is also used in some high-end watches and laptops.

The titanium rim could also have a rounded edge design similar to the MacBook Pro lineup, giving the iPhone 15 Pro models a sleeker and more comfortable feel in hand. The leaked videos of dummy units suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro models will be significantly slimmer than the current iPhone 14 range.

End of the Lightning Port

Another possible change for the iPhone 15 Pro models is that they could finally ditch the Lightning port and adopt USB-C instead. USB-C is a universal standard that allows fast charging and data transfer across various devices. It is also compatible with many accessories such as headphones, chargers and adapters.

The switch to USB-C would make sense for Apple as it has already adopted it for its iPad Pro, iPad Air, MacBook and iMac models. It would also make it easier for users to use one cable for all their devices. However, Apple could also opt for a portless design that relies on wireless charging and data transfer instead.

Return of Touch ID

One of the most requested features for the iPhone users is Touch ID, which allows unlocking the device with a fingerprint scan instead of Face ID or a passcode. Touch ID was replaced by Face ID since the iPhone X in 2017, but some users still prefer it for its convenience and reliability.

According to some reports, Apple could bring back Touch ID on the iPhone 15 Pro models by embedding it under the display. This would allow users to unlock their devices by touching anywhere on the screen without compromising on security or design. It would also work well with masks or gloves.

Periscoping Cameras

The camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro models could also see some improvements over their predecessors. One of them could be a periscoping camera that allows optical zoom up to 10x without losing quality or increasing thickness. A periscoping camera uses a prism or mirror to bend light into a telephoto lens inside the device.

A periscoping camera would enable users to capture distant objects or scenes with more detail and clarity than digital zoom. It would also compete with other smartphone brands such as Samsung and Huawei that have already implemented this technology on their flagship devices.

Apple 5G Modem

Another potential upgrade for the iPhone 15 Pro models is that they could use an Apple-made 5G modem instead of relying on Qualcomm’s chips. Apple has been developing its own modem since it acquired Intel’s smartphone modem business in 2019. An Apple-made modem would allow Apple to have more control over its hardware and software integration, as well as reduce its dependence on external suppliers.

An Apple-made modem could also offer better performance, efficiency and compatibility with different networks and regions than Qualcomm’s chips. It could also support new features such as Wi-Fi 6E, which offers faster speeds and lower latency than Wi-Fi 6.

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to launch in September 2023 along with other variants such as the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and possibly an iPhone SE3. While these rumours are not confirmed by Apple, they do paint an exciting picture of what we can expect from the next-generation iPhones. We will keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
