Google Brings "School Time" to Android and Wear OS Devices

Google is expanding its "School time" feature, initially introduced on the Fitbit Ace LTE, to Android phones, tablets, and Samsung Wear OS devices. This feature creates a special home screen with limited functionality during designated hours to minimize distractions for kids during class. Parents can enable it at any time, such as when it's time for their children to focus or take a break from screens.
Through the Family Link app, parents can set schedules (e.g., Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.), choose available apps, and allow calls or texts from specific contacts. If necessary, parents can quickly unlock School time.
When School time is active, kids see a black screen indicating its status and the lock duration. They can access "Available apps," and a phone shortcut is located in the bottom-left corner.
Originally launched with the Fitbit Ace LTE, this feature will be available on select Android phones, tablets, and Samsung Galaxy Watches within the next year. However, there is no mention of it coming to the Pixel Watch yet.
Additionally, YouTube is rolling out a new feature later this summer, enabling parents to link accounts with their teens to gain visibility into their activity.
