GTA 6 Moves Toward a Digital-First Launch

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has defended the decision to launch GTA 6 without a physical game disc on November 19.
Zelnick said traditional disc releases no longer make as much sense for major games. He pointed to the fact that many modern titles already require an internet connection.
Take-Two has also moved heavily toward digital sales. Zelnick said more than 90% of the company's business now comes from digital distribution.
However, physical games are not going away completely. Zelnick compared physical editions to vinyl records in music. He expects them to remain available for players who still want them.
He also left the door open for a physical version of GTA 6 in the future. That means a disc release could still happen after the game's initial launch.
For now, GTA 6 is taking a clear step toward a digital-first release. The decision also reflects the wider shift in how players buy and access games.
