The second expansion has a date

The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 2, Dazzling Decorations, will release on December 9, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. The paid addition brings accessories for Ditto and other Pokémon, new furniture and additional creatures to befriend. It follows Part 1, Bubbly Basin, which arrived in August. The official announcement also clarifies an important requirement: players must install the free version 3.0.0 software update before accessing the new paid content. That does not mean the expansion itself is free. The software update and the Expansion Pass are separate things, and players should check which one they own before December.

Accessories are the main attraction

Dazzling Decorations introduces wearable accessories, allowing Ditto and other Pokémon in the town to change their appearance. The Pokémon Company has shown examples including sunglasses, bow ties and a Sylveon-inspired ribbon. This gives players more ways to personalise their towns and inhabitants, building on the game's emphasis on decorating and forming friendships with Pokémon. The developer has not published a complete list of every accessory, so it would be premature to promise a specific outfit for every creature. The examples establish the direction: the expansion is primarily about expression and customisation rather than a new combat system.

No new town in Part 2

The official Asian press release explicitly says Dazzling Decorations will not add a new town. That distinction is easy to miss because Part 1 introduced the underwater Bubbly Basin location, and Part 3 is planned to add another town in 2027. Anyone expecting a similarly large new area in December should adjust that expectation. Part 2 focuses instead on accessories, furniture and more Pokémon. The exact number of additional Pokémon has not been fully detailed in the announcement. Players should evaluate the expansion based on what it actually includes rather than assuming all three waves of the pass have identical structures.

The Expansion Pass includes three waves

The paid Expansion Pass covers Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Part 1 is already available, Part 2 arrives December 9, and Part 3 is planned for 2027. Owners can continue using their existing save data. That makes it useful to check whether the pass has already been purchased before trying to buy the December content separately. The Pokémon Company also lists certain purchase bonuses, including a dynamic Ditto print recipe and rare Pokémetal ingots for eligible purchases. Some bonuses have redemption deadlines or account requirements, so the official terms are more reliable than a brief social media summary.

There are progression requirements

Players cannot necessarily open the paid DLC immediately after installing it. The Pokémon Company says important requests in Withered Wasteland must be completed, including raising the environment level, rebuilding the Pokémon Center and Drifloon's Find a Doll request. These are progression gates, not additional purchases. Someone returning after a long break may need to complete those tasks before the new content becomes accessible. Checking the requirements in advance can avoid confusion on launch day. The company also says version 3.0.0 is necessary, which makes updating the software another essential step.

A free event arrives first

Before the paid DLC, Pokémon Pokopia will run an Apples to Applin event from November 16 to December 1. The event introduces Applin and lets players collect Syrupy Apples that can be exchanged for apple-themed furniture. Those items can help create habitats for related Pokémon, including Flapple, Appletun, Dipplin and Hydrapple. The event is available to players without the paid Expansion Pass, subject to the required software version and progression conditions. This is a separate free event, so it should not be described as an early release of Dazzling Decorations. Players can participate in November and then decide whether they want the paid December additions.

How the event works

The official instructions say players need version 2.0.1 or later for Apples to Applin. They must also complete an important town request and rebuild the Pokémon Center. The Switch 2 clock should be set correctly, and the game must connect to the internet to start the event for the first time. The Pokémon Company notes that the event does not take place on Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin. These details matter for players who launch the game during the event window and cannot find Applin. The announcement gives specific conditions rather than leaving players to guess where the content has gone.

More towns are planned for 2027

Part 3 of the Expansion Pass is expected in 2027 and is planned to include a new town, additional Pokémon and furniture. The company has not provided a specific release day for that third wave. It would be inaccurate to present the December launch as the completion of all expansion content. For someone considering the pass, the value comes from the combined three-part plan, not just the accessories arriving next month. As always with future content, players should rely on official updates for dates and final features. The December announcement gives a clear near-term milestone while leaving Part 3's details for later.

What players should check before December 9

Pokémon Pokopia's next paid release is focused on customisation, not a new region. Players who enjoy decorating and personalising their Pokémon may find it appealing, while those hoping for another town may prefer to wait for Part 3. The free Apples to Applin event offers something to do in the meantime. Before launch, confirm ownership of the Expansion Pass, complete the required quests and install the version 3.0.0 update when available.
