Samsung Unveils Budget Galaxy Watch FE with Health Features

Samsung has unexpectedly announced the Galaxy Watch FE, a budget-friendly addition to its smartwatch lineup. The Galaxy Watch FE features a 40mm aluminum case with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display, offering a 396 x 396 resolution and always-on display support, protected by Sapphire Crystal glass.
For health tracking, it includes Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, HR Alert for abnormal heart rates, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications for potential AFib, and the ability to track over 100 workouts, take ECG readings, and measure body composition. However, it lacks SpO2 tracking and a temperature sensor.
Powered by the older Exynos W920 chip from 2021, the Galaxy Watch FE has 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Its 247mAh battery is notably smaller than those in recent models, potentially impacting battery life. The watch supports Bluetooth 5.0, LTE, NFC, GPS, and is water-resistant (5ATM + IP68) with a MIL-STD-810G durability rating. It runs Wear OS with Samsung’s One UI 5 Watch interface and is available in black, pink gold, and silver.
Priced at $200 for the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model and $250 for the LTE variant, the Galaxy Watch FE is significantly cheaper than the Galaxy Watch 6. It will be available from June 24, though the LTE version won't be available until October 2024.
