Chelsea secured a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, despite having midfielder Moises Caicedo sent off in the first half. Caicedo’s yellow card was upgraded to red following a VAR review for a studs-up challenge on Mikel Merino, marking Chelsea’s fourth dismissal this season.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Chelsea took the lead straight after halftime when Trevoh Chalobah headed in a Reece James corner. Arsenal found an equalizer when Bukayo Saka set up Merino for a header into the corner.
Though Arsenal had an hour against ten men, they struggled to create clear-cut chances. Chelsea defended resolutely, and the final whistle saw the home fans celebrate the point. The draw cuts Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table from six to five points.
