Nigeria secured a spot in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by beating Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in their last group-stage match. Despite Guinea-Bissau winning 1-0 against Nigeria in Abuja during the qualification phase, Nigeria managed to turn things around with a similar scoreline in the return leg. Their 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast on January 18, 2024, also boosted their position in the tournament. In the knockout stage, Nigeria will be part of Group A, facing Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau again.
