Ipswich Town secured a historic victory over Chelsea with a 2-0 win at Portman Road on December 30, 2024. Liam Delap scored his seventh league goal of the season, breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute with a powerful spot-kick. He also set up the second goal for Omari Hutchinson in the 53rd minute.
Chelsea thought they had equalized in the 24th minute, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside. Despite creating several chances, Chelsea conceded two easy goals and struggled to find their rhythm.
The win moves Ipswich within a point of survival at the bottom of the table, while Chelsea finishes the year in fourth with a 10-point gap on leaders Liverpool. Ipswich’s manager Enzo Maresca’s side will look to build on this momentum in their next match against Fulham on January 5, 2025.
