Nigeria faced a frustrating start to the Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-1 draw in their Group A opener against Equatorial Guinea. Despite a dominant beginning at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe, Nigeria fell behind as Iban Salvador Edu scored against the run of play. The setback was short-lived, as Victor Osimhen equalized with a header from an Ademola Lookman cross. Despite hitting the woodwork through Moses Simon and continued pressure in the second half, Nigeria couldn’t secure the winning goal. The result leaves Nigeria looking to bounce back in their upcoming match against the hosts after Ivory Coast’s 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on Saturday.
