Italy, the reigning European champions, were eliminated from Euro 2024 after a surprising 2-0 defeat by Switzerland in Berlin. The breakthrough came when Remo Freuler made a deep run and scored from inside the box. Switzerland then solidified their lead just 27 seconds into the second half with a stunning curling goal from Ruben Vargas. With Granit Xhaka’s leadership, Switzerland prevented Italy from mounting any significant response, securing their victory and Italy’s exit from the tournament.
