Apple Set to Release Its Largest iPhone Yet with Advanced Display Technology

Apple is poised to release its largest iPhone to date, with the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models expected to feature larger displays and a new technology to maximize screen space. Reports indicate that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will boast a 6.9-inch screen, up from the current 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.

The increased screen size will be achieved using a technology called Border Reduction Structure (BRS), which allows for thinner bezels and more usable display area. Apple had initially wanted to use BRS in earlier iPhones but was hindered by issues like excess heat buildup. With these problems presumably resolved, BRS is now likely to debut on the upcoming Pro models.

Thin bezels can enhance the visual appeal of mobile devices, but they come with the risk of accidental touches when holding the phone. Apple may address this by reducing the input sensitivity around the screen edges to prevent unintended taps.

Apple usually announces new iPhones in mid-September, with launches following shortly after, and this year is expected to be no different.

In addition to the larger iPhone 16 Pro models, rumors suggest Apple is developing a thinner iPhone variant that could replace the Plus model, potentially priced higher than the Pro versions. This new model aligns with Apple’s trend of creating increasingly thinner devices, akin to the new iPad Pro, which is the company’s thinnest device to date. This focus on slim designs represents a return to a strategy Apple pursued for years but has shifted away from recently.
