Apple Unveils MacBook Air with M3 Chip
Apple revealed updated versions of its MacBook Air laptops featuring the latest M3 chip, initially introduced for iMac and MacBook Pro. This move comes as Apple reported modest growth in Mac revenue, indicating an effort to stimulate sales. The refreshed models boast enhancements such as improved webcams, faster Wi-Fi support, and extended battery life of up to 18 hours. Notably, the M3 chip enables users to connect up to two external displays, a notable advancement from previous iterations.
Apple strategically emphasized its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI), branding the MacBook Air as the “world’s best consumer laptop for AI” to compete with Windows laptops marketed as “AI PCs.” However, it’s worth noting that major AI platforms primarily operate in the cloud rather than locally on devices. Tim Cook reaffirmed Apple’s dedication to AI investment, teasing a significant announcement later in the year, potentially at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June.
Priced at $1,099 for the 13-inch model and $1,299 for the 15-inch model, the new MacBook Airs are available for order immediately and will hit stores on March 8th. This strategic move underscores Apple’s ongoing commitment to innovation within the laptop market and its deliberate positioning within the evolving AI landscape.
