Apple’s Public Beta Program: How to Get Ready
Apple’s public beta program is about to get very busy. The first public betas for iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and other major updates are expected to be released soon. You can pre-enroll in the beta program now so your device will be ready to install the new software as soon as it’s available. Here’s how to do it.
Public Beta Enrollment Available Now
To install the iOS 18 public beta on your iPhone or any other beta release on another device, you need to enroll in Apple’s public beta program. Enrollment is easy and can be done now at beta.apple.com. Here’s what you need to do:
- Go to beta.apple.com on any device.
- Click the blue ‘Sign Up’ button.
- Sign in with your Apple Account.
- Read the Beta Software Program Agreement.
- Click the blue ‘Agree’ button.
- Follow the device-specific guides to get beta updates on your device.
Once you follow these steps, your device will be ready for the public beta releases.
Upcoming Public Beta Releases
Public betas will be available for most of Apple’s devices, but not all. The expected public betas include:
- iOS 18
- iPadOS 18
- macOS Sequoia
- watchOS 11
- tvOS 18
- HomePod software 18
Each device has specific instructions for installing the public beta, which you can find on the beta enrollment website.
One notable exception is the Vision Pro. Apple has never offered a public beta for Vision Pro, limiting it to developers only. This will still be the case for visionOS 2 this summer.
Are you planning to install the public betas when they release? Which beta are you most excited about?
