GTA V To Launch On PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series S/X
According to publisher Rockstar Games, GTA 5, or Grand Theft Auto V, will be released on the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/ X consoles on March 15. GTA 5 will be able to fully utilize the graphical prowess of a PS5 or an Xbox Series S/X when it releases on the latest generation of consoles, as well as transfer Story Mode progress from older generation consoles. In addition, Rockstar will release a standalone version of GTA Online for next-gen consoles, which will be free for the first three months for select users and will allow them to skip the GTA 5 Story Mode prologue before entering GTA Online.
GTA 5 will have improved graphics on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/ X, including 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, HDR, and raytracing, as well as faster loading times and immersive 3D audio support, according to a recent post by Rockstar Games. On newer consoles, gamers will be able to take advantage of platform-specific features such as advanced haptic feedback on the PlayStation DualSense controllers.
According to Rockstar, those who have already played GTA 5 on their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles will be able to pick up where they left off by transferring saves with a one-time migration option. The news was accompanied by confirmation from the publisher that it was working on the sixth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series, dubbed GTA 6. While the final title has yet to be revealed, Rockstar has stated that active development for the next game is “well underway.”
