OpenAI Releases ChatGPT 5.2: A More Reliable Thinker

OpenAI has launched its latest AI model, GPT-5.2, powering an updated ChatGPT. This release focuses on making the AI a more serious and dependable tool for complex tasks, moving beyond novelty to daily reliability.

Clearer Thinking and Problem-Solving

A key advancement is the model’s improved reasoning. ChatGPT 5.2 can now break down complicated questions, plan multi-step solutions, and provide answers that show a clear chain of thought. OpenAI reports it performs at or above human expert levels on many professional tasks, such as financial analysis or creating presentations. This means it can explain concepts more cleanly and stay on track during long, detailed conversations.

Expanded Memory for Big Projects

The new model can remember and connect information across much larger documents. It reaches near-perfect accuracy when tracking details across hundreds of thousands of words. Users can upload entire project folders, lengthy reports, or multiple academic papers, and ChatGPT can analyze them as a connected whole. This also applies to images, with better understanding of charts, diagrams, and complex visuals.

Greater Dependability and Safety

OpenAI has significantly reduced incorrect responses, known as hallucinations, by 30% compared to the previous model. This makes ChatGPT 5.2 more reliable for tasks where accuracy is critical. The AI also uses external tools, like booking systems, more effectively without losing focus mid-task. Additionally, it is designed to respond more appropriately and supportively in sensitive conversations, such as those about mental health.

The ChatGPT 5.2 model is rolling out now to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. It is available in three tiers: Instant, Thinking, and Pro. Access to the older GPT-5.1 model will end in three months. This update emphasizes practicality, offering users a thoughtful and consistent AI partner for substantial work.
