TikTok Launches Native App for Apple’s Vision Pro Headset
Apple’s Vision Pro headset will now have a native TikTok app, TikTok announced recently. This app offers a familiar interface, including a vertically oriented video player, like and comment buttons, and additional features like viewing comments and creator profiles without obstructing the video.
TikTok revealed the launch of its Vision Pro app last month, mentioning that they had redesigned the entire TikTok experience for the headset. On the Vision Pro, you can watch TikTok videos in your real-world surroundings or in fully virtual locations like the surface of the Moon. The app will also work alongside other apps on the headset.
Support from major video streaming services for Apple’s new headset has been varied. Disney, for instance, has been a key partner, offering the ability to stream 3D movies on the Vision Pro through Disney Plus. Apple has also announced support from other services like Amazon Prime Video, Paramount Plus, Mubi, and Discovery Plus.
On the other hand, Netflix and YouTube have not yet provided compatibility modes for their iPad apps on the Vision Pro. Instead, they suggest users watch their services via the Safari browser. However, YouTube, which has been increasingly competing with TikTok through its YouTube Shorts service, has confirmed that a dedicated Vision Pro app is part of their future plans.
The TikTok app on the Vision Pro is likely to enhance the experience for users, providing them with a more immersive and engaging way to enjoy the platform.
