Unlocking Professional Video Creation with Sora
When OpenAI launched its $200 ChatGPT Pro subscription, many questioned its value compared to the $20 ChatGPT Plus plan. The Pro tier initially offered access to the o1 Pro model, an advanced AI designed for more accurate answers, especially in areas like coding, data analysis, and legal research. While useful for some professionals, most users didn’t see the steep price as justified.
The release of Sora Turbo, OpenAI’s AI video creation tool, has changed this view. Sora allows users to create videos simply by describing what they want. It works on a credit system, with different features depending on the subscription level.
ChatGPT Plus users get 1,000 credits per month, allowing them to create up to 50 short videos. These videos can be up to five seconds long, have a resolution of 720p, and include watermarks. While enough for basic use or exploration, these limitations make it hard for Plus users to create videos for professional purposes.
ChatGPT Pro users, on the other hand, get 10,000 credits each month, allowing up to 500 high-priority videos. Pro users can also create unlimited “relaxed mode” videos with longer durations of up to 20 seconds, 1080p resolution, and no watermarks. They can even generate five videos at the same time, making the Pro plan far more suitable for serious content creators and professionals.
Sora has made the Pro plan much more appealing for those who need high-quality video creation. OpenAI’s ongoing “12 Days of OpenAI” event could add even more features to the Pro subscription, increasing its value. While the cost may still seem high to some, Sora shows why the Pro plan is worth considering for advanced users who need professional-grade tools.
