What's New in iOS 17.3: Enhanced Security and Collaborative Playlists

The latest iOS 17.3 update from Apple includes a new security feature called Stolen Device Protection. This feature aims to prevent thieves from easily accessing your iPhone and sensitive accounts like iCloud, bank, or email. Instead of relying solely on the lock screen passcode, Stolen Device Protection requires fingerprint or Face ID authentication for certain actions, such as viewing saved passwords or applying for an Apple Card.
With this update, there's now a waiting period for more sensitive actions like changing your Apple ID password or iPhone passcode. This "Security Delay" involves Face ID or Touch ID, an hour wait, and then another successful biometric authentication, adding an extra layer of security. This is particularly required when you're away from familiar locations like home or work.
To activate Stolen Device Protection, go to the Settings app, select Face ID & Passcode, enter your device passcode, and toggle the feature on. Apple is also introducing collaborative playlists in the Apple Music app, allowing friends to join and contribute. Additionally, iOS 17.3 enables streaming content to TVs in select hotels. Apart from iOS 17.3, Apple has also released updates for iOS 9, 15, and 16 devices, which may include security fixes.
