Hair loss is a common issue most men face, studies show that 70% of men do suffer from hair loss, some men start experiencing hair loss at a very young age, as young as 16.
If you are experiencing hair loss or your hairline is receding, then count yourself lucky as you are in the right place.
Before I tell you how to stop hair loss or receding hairline, it is very important you understand the cause of hair loss.
Well, Hair loss can be triggered by a lot of factors but in this article, we are going to be focusing on what causes Male Pattern Baldness.
Male pattern baldness happens when your body converts excess Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Testosterone is your masculine hormone, it’s what makes you a man, so your body is going to keep on secreting it as long as you’re a man, Testosterone is not the bad guy here, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the bad guy.
For men who experience male pattern baldness, their body always converts excess Testosterone to DHT. so for you to stop experiencing hair loss, you need to stop your body from converting excess testosterone to DHT. now, how do you do that you may ask. I’ll explain in the following steps.
There are a few natural ways to combat hair loss and you have to be willing to change some “bad” habits like sm0king, drinking, m@sturb@tion. I’ll explain further each habit.
M@sturb@tion is a huge factor in hair loss and the reason is very simple if you’ve been reading from the beginning. M@sturb@tion makes you lose your hair because whenever you engage with the habit, your body has to regenerate the lost sp3rm in your body which resort to more Testosterone being generated which then converts to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and then you lose hair.
So if you can stop this habit, you will stop losing hair. but quitting this habit doesn’t stop you from losing hair completely, it only reduces it. (Keep reading, I will tell you how to completely stop hair loss)
2. Sm0king & Drinking
Smoking and drinking isn’t a good habit if you want to live a healthy life. engaging in such a habit will cause hair loss.
Living a more healthy lifestyle will overall improve your hair growth. so it’s best to quit this habit if you want to improve your hair growth and want to stop further hair loss.
This is the most effective way to combat and reverse hair loss, there are a lot of medications out there for hair loss depending on how much you’ve lost hair, but I am going to be giving you the one that has been proven to work.
Remember DHT is the bad guy, it’s what causes male pattern baldness and if you want to stop hair loss you need to stop DHT.
Finasteride (1mg) is a pill that has been proven to stop further hair loss, it does that by preventing the conversion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Finasteride wasn’t initially a hair loss treatment pill, it was first a Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) treatment and patient that were being treated for BPH with finasteride noticed an improvement in their hair growth, since then people a study was conducted on it and it became a FDA approved drug for hair loss.
Finasteride Side effects
When i first read the reviews on Finasteride, i was scared away by the possible side effect of the drug and that made me not take the pill for a while until i was brave enough to try it and to my surprise, i didn’t experience a single side effect from the drug. so my advice for you will be to try it for some days and if you notice any crazy side effects then just stop the medication. (You can google the side effects)
Minoxidil is a topical spray that helps improve hair growth in receding areas, Minoxidil doesn’t stop the conversion of Testosterone to DHT(the bad guy) so if you use minoxidil alone without any other medication like finasteride, you will still continue to experience hair loss as the DHT in your body will keep on harming the your hair. So for better result, you are advised to use minoxidil alongside finasteride.
Minoxidil Side Effects
Minoxidil doesn’t have any crazy side effect as you only rub the solution on your skin, but in some cases, it might cause rashes and skin irritation in some people. So it’s not a crazy drug with crazy side effects, just use it and if you notice any side effect, you should stop the medication.
Now the two medication mentioned above are the most effective ways to combat hair loss, if you are in your early stage (stage 1 – 2) of hairloss, the medication above will help you restore lost hairs if you are religious with your medication. but unfortunately, if you have lost a lot of hair (stage 3-8), Hair transplant becomes the only option to restore full hair growth.
Hair transplants have become a lot more affordable than they use to be in the past. There are two major types of hair transplant procedures. FUE & FUT
FUT is a type of hair transplant procedure where a strip of your scalp is taken from the back of your head and the hair follicle is being extracted one by one and then transplanted into the receding area. It takes 1 year for you to see the full result of your transplant.
As you can see from the picture above, there is a huge scar left on the donor area. This is kind of a dated procedure, most people dislike this procedure because of the huge scar that’s left on the head.
FUE is a hair transplant procedure where the hair follicles are extracted from the scalp directly using an extraction tool and then transplanted into the receding areas. it doesn’t leave a permanent scar on your head like FUT. FUE scar usually heals up and becomes un-noticable. It takes 1 year for you to see the full result of your transplant.
As you can see from the picture above, the scar healed up pretty fast and it becomes un-noticable.
There is another hair procedure called MSP(Micro Scalp Pigmentation)
MSP (Micro Scalp Pigmentation)
MSP is more like make-up for your hair, it’s more like tattooing hair follicles on your head making it look as if you have hair on your head. The result is pretty much instant.
After reading this article, you should understand the causes of male pattern baldness.
