Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 begins on November 6, bringing new multiplayer maps, the X01 facility for DMZ and integration with Warzone. Activision lists the start as midnight Eastern Time. For players in Nigeria, that converts to 6:00 AM WAT on November 6, 2026.

The official announcement separates launch content from additions arriving later. Backstab, Canyon and a reworked Shoot House lead the multiplayer map release. Ministry and Overflow follow during the season. Launch modes include Grind, Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1 Wager Match, while the CSG 35 SMG and Cronen Osprey assault rifle join the weapons lineup.

Warzone gets Hajin and Zodiac alongside returning Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Activision has set November 2 for a fuller Warzone briefing, so this first announcement should not be mistaken for the complete integration breakdown.

What multiplayer players should focus on

A season roadmap can make everything look equally immediate. In practice, the useful distinction is what changes your next session. New launch maps require fresh route knowledge. Content marked for midseason belongs in a later plan, particularly if your squad is organising a specific evening around the update.

For an initial session, choose a familiar weapon and use the new environments as the main variable. Learning a layout while also changing every part of a loadout makes it harder to understand why an encounter went wrong. A known setup lets you concentrate on sightlines, alternate approaches and the places where opponents tend to appear.

Returning map names can create their own trap. Familiarity is useful, but it is still worth walking through the updated space before assuming every old angle will behave exactly as remembered. Visual changes, visibility and the wider game’s movement can affect how comfortable an old route feels.

Objective modes also reward a different kind of attention from a simple search for fights. Before chasing a player across the map, consider whether moving has left the objective exposed. That advice is hardly exclusive to this season, but the opening days of a new map are a good time to build useful habits before routes become automatic.

X01 gives DMZ a different destination

The new X01 location is a former GRANIT Arms black site reached through Hajin. Activision describes an enclosed, multi-level facility with tunnels, laboratories and a Deep Vault. Ghost supplies new Orders. The briefing deliberately keeps some enemies and equipment classified, leaving discoveries for players entering the facility.

An interior destination changes the questions a squad needs to ask. How will you identify the route back? Who watches a second approach while someone investigates a room? When should the team stop exploring and protect what it has already collected? Those are planning questions, not claims that we have played X01 ahead of release.

A useful first visit can be successful even without collecting the most valuable reward. Learning an exit, identifying a dangerous transition or discovering where a team lost contact can make a later attempt much cleaner. Treating every first run as a maximum-loot attempt is a quick way to turn uncertainty into avoidable losses.

A refresher for returning Operators

The official Xbox DMZ introduction explains that Operators develop through successful deployments and Trait Points. Builds can draw from Warfighter, Scout and Survivalist trees. An eliminated Operator becomes MIA and needs recovery or dismissal before returning to duty. Recovery costs in-game DMZ Cash, preserves selected Traits and does not restore lost equipment. A free loadout is available when needed.

Those rules give preparation a purpose beyond choosing a favourite skin. Before entering an unfamiliar facility, look at how much you have invested in the Operator and whether the rest of the squad understands the plan. A costly recovery is easier to accept when it follows a deliberate risk than when it follows a misunderstanding about the objective.

Agree on one main task before deployment. That might be gathering information, completing an Order or supporting a teammate’s progression. A shared priority makes the decision to leave much easier. Without one, different players can spend the same match pursuing incompatible ideas of success.

It is also worth deciding how you will handle a failed attempt. A backup build and a modest reserve can keep a bad run from ending the whole session. The point is to leave room to learn, rather than turn every deployment into a test that the team cannot afford to fail.

DMZ and Warzone serve different sessions

Activision’s DMZ overview frames Hajin around extraction, story missions, dynamic operations and persistent progression. Weather and escalating threats can alter a deployment. The Forward Operating Base anchors the longer-term loop of preparation and return. These are the foundations that the new seasonal destination builds upon.

That context matters when discussing Warzone integration. Sharing a wider Call of Duty season does not make every mode interchangeable. A player looking for a familiar competitive evening and a player planning an extraction run may need very different amounts of preparation and time.

For a mixed group, choose the mode before arguing about loadouts or unlocks. It sounds basic, but a clear expectation prevents a short session from disappearing into menus. You can always set aside another evening for exploring the facility once everyone understands the risk and progression systems.

Preparing for November 6

Check the update on your own platform before the session starts, particularly if several friends have limited download windows. Do not assume that a season start time guarantees every device will be ready at that exact minute. Installation, account access and local connection conditions can still decide when a particular player gets into a match.

There is no need to predict a winning weapon build from a roadmap. Test the new additions after release and pay attention to the published balance notes. A weapon’s name and category do not establish how it will perform against the equipment players already use.

For now, the firm appointment is November 6 at 6:00 AM WAT. Multiplayer players have new routes to learn, DMZ squads have an unfamiliar facility to investigate, and Warzone players have a separate detailed briefing to read before the integration arrives.
