Nintendo Direct September 2026 Reveals New Games and Switch 2 Updates

Nintendo has delivered a packed Direct with new announcements for both Switch and Switch 2.

The broadcast included new first-party games, surprise updates, classic titles, and several major third-party releases.

New First-Party Games

Nintendo showed the first look at Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D adventure starring Samus. The game also marks the return of Samus speaking in the series.

Another new reveal was Kirby And The World Beyond. The game takes Kirby in a strange new direction with an "elder god" theme.

Games and Updates Available Today

Mechcha Chameleon launched on Switch 2 today. The game puts players into a hide-and-seek experience.

Nintendo also released a major free update for Mario Kart World. The update adds 10 new tracks that players can race on right now.

Classic Games Return

Star Fox Adventures is now playable on Switch 2 through the new GameCube emulator.

Nintendo also confirmed a new Professor Layton game. The announcement comes nine years after the previous mainline entry.

More Games Coming to Switch 2

Nintendo also highlighted several major third-party games coming to Switch 2.

007 First Light, Stellar Blade, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy are all confirmed for the platform over the next few months.

With new first-party reveals, classic GameCube games, free updates, and more third-party support, Nintendo had plenty to show during its September Direct.
