Manchester City maintained their perfect Premier League start with a 2-1 home win over Brentford. Brentford stunned the Etihad just 22 seconds in when Yoane Wissa scored the fastest goal of the season. However, Erling Haaland equalized in the 19th minute with his second touch, netting from a tight angle. Haaland struck again to make it 2-1, outmuscling defender Ethan Pinnock and chipping past goalkeeper Mark Flekken for his ninth goal of the season. Despite Flekken’s several key saves, denying Haaland a third, City held firm to secure the victory.
