A Sneak Peek at the Design and Features of iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro max
Display: Bigger, Bolder Screens.
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are anticipated to feature larger displays, measuring 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively, compared to the previous 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. This modification is attributed to the introduction of a 5x tetraprism Telephoto camera, expected on both Pro models. Unlike the iPhone 15 lineup, where only the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max included the 5x Telephoto lens, the increased size in the iPhone 16 models accommodates this feature on both the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
While the overall form factor and design of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max remain consistent during development, Apple has experimented with various design details. Four button configurations were tested, and the finalized design closely resembles the one on the iPhone 15 Pro, with the addition of a new button on the right side of the iPhone. Similar to the iPhone 15 Pro, both Pro models in the iPhone 16 range will have a multi-purpose Action button, configurable for various functions. Although Apple considered a larger capacitive Action button with a force sensor in the earlier design phase (codenamed Atlas), the latest design documentation indicates a standard mechanical Action button.
Button: Configurations and Functionality
A new Capture button, is introduced on the right side of the iPhone 16 Pro models. Positioned below the power button, this capacitive-type button with force-sensor functionality will be used for video capture. Notably, Apple relocates the mmWave antenna from the right side to the left side of U.S. models. The Capture button will be flush with the iPhone’s frame, distinguishing it from the protruding power and volume buttons.
Grade 5 Titanium
Material-wise, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will maintain the Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) used in the iPhone 15 Pro, with no significant changes to the finish. The prototypes showcase a “Silver” color, marketed as “White Titanium,” with plans to introduce another color option, although details on this option are currently unavailable.
