Apple Plans Two-Phase iPhone 18 Launch in 2026

Apple is reportedly changing its iPhone launch cycle starting in 2026. According to The Information, the company plans to release its premium iPhone 18 Pro models in fall 2026, while delaying the cheaper iPhone 18 variants and an updated iPhone 16e until spring 2027. This marks a rare shift from Appleās usual fall-only iPhone launches.
The report also hints at Apple preparing a foldable iPhone, possibly joining the Pro lineup in fall 2026. Meanwhile, a slimmer iPhone ā rumored to be called iPhone 17 Air ā is expected this year, with a follow-up planned for 2026 as well.
Apple is also reportedly testing production of the lower-cost iPhone 18 models in India to reduce dependence on China and offset pressure from US tariffs.
If true, this staggered release could help Apple manage supply chains more flexibly and refresh its lineup multiple times a year. It also signals a bigger push into emerging markets like India, where lower-cost iPhones perform well.
With foldables, slimmer models, and a two-phase rollout, 2026 could be a major turning point for Appleās iPhone strategy.
