Early Glimpse: Renders and Rumors Surrounding the Google Pixel 9
The Google Pixel 9, anticipated to release in about nine months, has surfaced in renders, courtesy of Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks). These renders, typically based on CAD files, showcase potential design details. Notable changes include a flat metal band around the sides, reminiscent of the iPhone and adopted by Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series. This design choice creates flat slabs of glass on the front and back, departing from the rounded glass back of the Pixel 8. The camera bar has also evolved into a floating bar, resembling the Pixel Fold design, featuring a pill-shaped layout housing camera lenses, an LED flash, and a mysterious second sensor circle.
Contrary to a reported “6.5-inch” display, the dimensions suggest a size similar to the current model. OnLeaks also presents renders for the base-model Pixel 9, slightly larger than the Pixel 8, with surprising features, including three rear cameras and a mystery sensor, challenging the trend of cutting down features on base models. Speculation arises about a potential shift in Google’s device lineup, with the Pixel 9 possibly adopting a “mini-Pro” model strategy, similar to the iPhone’s approach. This could help differentiate it from the improved A-series, which saw a significant boost with the Pixel 7a release in 2023. While discussions about the Pixel 9 may seem premature, these rumors provide an early glimpse into Google’s evolving smartphone plans.
