How To Stop Your Stolen iPhone From Being Unlocked.

We fully know that you might have passcodes or face ID on your iPhone, but what happens after your iPhone is stolen? There are quite a few loopholes that a thief might take advantage of. We will go through them in this post.

We will talk about a loophole a thief might want to exploit and a solution to it before the unfortunate happens.

Control center accessibility.

The thief will probably attempt to access the control center to activate airplane mode on the iPhone out of instinct. If you don’t disable the “control center” in the Face ID settings, it is absolutely possible. How do you approach that, then? Here is a summary of how to do that.

  1. Open settings.
  2. Scroll down to Face ID and Passcode, click on it, and input the passcode.
  3. After that, you scroll down to find the control center and toggle it off.

When the iPhone is locked, it is impossible to access the control center, bringing about more security to your iPhone when stolen.

E-Sim.

What is an eSim? It is an embedded SIM and cannot be removed. It’s a programmable SIM card that’s physically connected (soldered) to the motherboard.

So in another instance, the thief might try to eject the sim on the iPhone, probably after they might have tried to switch the iPhone to airplane mode, which might not have been to any avail as the control center from Face ID was already toggled off.

With the eSIM, you can only activate or deactivate it from your settings app; which is also not feasible as the iPhone is locked. This leaves you with a layer of security when your iPhone is stolen.

Find my Network feature.

The next step a thief will want to take is to turn off your iPhone. Now that’s where we talk about a feature on the iPhone called “Find My Network.” When activated, it allows you to track the location of your phone even when it is switched off. So how do you activate this feature or know if you have this feature turned on?

  1. Open Settings and click on the Apple ID at the top.
  2. Select Find My.
  3. Click on “Find My iPhone”
  4. Then you go ahead to toggle on find my iPhone and find my network.

When you lose your phone and have followed all the steps in this guide, all you need to do is go to icloud.com on another device and utilize the find my iPhone app. Your iPhone will continuously transmit signals of its location to other iPhones using Bluetooth.

No matter where your iPhone is, its location will be shown, and if you can be located with the assistance of the police, you can get it back.
