iOS 17.3 Introduces AirPlay Hotel Support for iPhone Users

Apple has unveiled the release notes for iOS 17.3, set to launch next week, highlighting a new feature allowing iPhones to connect to specific hotel room TVs via AirPlay. However, detailed information on the feature remains limited. Described as “AirPlay hotel support,” the feature enables users to stream content directly to the TV in select hotels. Users can establish an AirPlay connection by scanning a QR code on a supported hotel room TV, facilitating wireless streaming of videos, photos, and music from their iPhone to the TV. This functionality is comparable to Google’s Chromecast, which offers a similar feature on certain hotel TVs.

In June 2023, Apple announced that IHG Hotels & Resorts, including Holiday Inn, had plans to adopt this feature. LG was also revealed as one of the initial hotel room TV manufacturers to support the feature. Despite the initial expectation of a launch last year, Apple delayed the feature until 2024.
