Microsoft to Discontinue Paint 3D App

Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue the Paint 3D app, removing it from the Microsoft Store on November 4 and ending all updates and support. Despite its popularity among some users, the company has decided not to invest further in the app’s development or maintenance. As a result, users are advised to transition to more advanced 3D modeling software, such as Autodesk 3ds Max or Blender, which offer more robust features and ongoing support.

Overview

Microsoft’s Paint 3D app, introduced with much anticipation in 2017 alongside the Windows 10 Creators Update, is set to be delisted from the Microsoft Store on November 4. The app will no longer receive updates or support. Paint 3D, which featured a modern design and 3D art creation tools, failed to achieve widespread use, leading Microsoft to stop including it in new Windows installations.

Despite receiving positive ratings from users, Microsoft has chosen not to continue supporting the app. A notice about its removal is gradually being displayed to users, though it may take some time for everyone to see it.

The app will likely still function after November 4 for those who already have it installed. However, users are advised to transition to more advanced 3D modeling software like Autodesk 3ds Max or Blender, which offer superior features and ongoing support. This change presents a good opportunity for users to explore these alternatives.
