Twitter.com Links Redirect to X.com as Elon Musk Advances Rebranding Efforts
Elon Musk’s initiative to rebrand Twitter as X Corp has taken a significant step forward as Twitter.com links now redirect to the X.com domain. Musk announced the completion of this transition in an X post, confirming that all core systems are now operating under X.com. Despite Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 and the subsequent rebranding in April 2023, Twitter continued to utilize Twitter.com as its primary domain until now, with X.com links redirecting to Twitter.com during the interim period.
However, remnants of the Twitter brand are still evident, as observed in support links directing users to help.twitter.com pages, which subsequently redirect to help.x.com following recent changes. Despite the transition, some inconsistencies persist, with certain Twitter links failing to redirect to x.com depending on the browser being used. Technical issues have also arisen during this transition period, such as automatic text replacement glitches experienced in the iOS app, where “twitter.com” was replaced with “x.com” even in non-Twitter-related URLs, potentially leaving users vulnerable to phishing attempts.
While access to x.com appears seamless on desktop browsers, some users have encountered errors when accessing either domain on Safari for iPhone, suggesting ongoing challenges in ensuring a smooth transition across all platforms. Despite these challenges, it is expected that any remaining technical issues will be addressed as Musk continues to consolidate the X brand across all aspects of the former Twitter platform.
