X Introduces ‘React with Video’ to Make Conversations More Interactive

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has launched a new feature called React with Video, giving users a fresh way to respond to posts using video commentary directly from their timelines.

The feature was announced by X’s Head of Product, Nikita Bier, who described it as a significant step toward making conversations on the platform more engaging and expressive. As video continues to dominate online communication, X is betting that users will increasingly prefer showing their reactions rather than simply typing them.

A New Way to Join the Conversation

The new tool allows users to create video responses directly from the repost menu. Instead of quoting a post with text, users can now record themselves reacting to content while incorporating the original post into the video.

According to Bier, commentary remains one of the most important aspects of X, and video provides a more dynamic and personal way for people to share their opinions, reactions, and insights.

Initially, the feature is available to iOS users, with broader availability expected in the future.

Creative Video Formats Included

React with Video comes with several built-in formats designed to make responses more visually engaging.

Users can choose from:

Split Screen Mode

This format displays both the original post and the user’s reaction side by side, making it easier for viewers to understand the context while watching the response.

Picture-in-Picture Mode

Creators can place themselves in a smaller frame while the original content remains visible on the screen, similar to reaction videos commonly seen on YouTube and TikTok.

Green Screen Mode

This option allows users to place themselves in front of the original content, creating a more immersive reaction experience and opening up additional creative possibilities.

These editing tools enable users to create richer and more entertaining responses without needing external video editing software.

X Continues Its Push Toward Video

The launch reflects X’s broader strategy of becoming a more creator-focused platform. In recent years, the company has invested heavily in video content, creator monetization, subscriptions, and new engagement tools.

Industry analysts note that the feature closely resembles popular reaction formats already common on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. By bringing similar functionality directly into X, the company hopes to encourage more content creation and increase user engagement.

Part of a Larger Platform Evolution

React with Video is the latest in a series of major product changes introduced since Elon Musk acquired the platform.

Previous additions include the Edit Post feature, which allows users to modify posts after publishing, and the expansion of X Premium subscriptions, which introduced paid verification and additional platform benefits.

As competition among social media platforms intensifies, X appears focused on transforming itself from a text-first platform into a broader content ecosystem where video, creators, and interactive conversations play a central role.

With React with Video, X is taking another step toward making video responses a natural part of everyday conversations on the platform.
