Anthropic has significantly upgraded Claude’s Voice Mode, expanding the feature beyond its lightweight Haiku model to include the more capable Sonnet and Opus models. The update also introduces integrations with popular workplace applications, including Gmail, Slack, and Canva, making Claude a more capable AI assistant for day-to-day productivity.
When Voice Mode first launched, it was limited to Haiku, Anthropic’s fastest model. While it delivered quick responses, it wasn’t designed for deep reasoning or handling complex tasks. According to Anthropic, users quickly began pushing Voice Mode beyond simple conversations, using it to solve business problems, brainstorm ideas, and manage real work.
To meet those demands, the company has now brought its more advanced AI models into the voice experience. Users can speak with Claude while benefiting from the stronger reasoning and problem-solving capabilities offered by Sonnet and Opus.
Another notable addition is the ability to switch seamlessly between voice and text during the same conversation. Users can also change AI models without ending their session, creating a more flexible workflow depending on the complexity of the task.
The integration with Gmail, Slack, and Canva is perhaps the most significant part of the update. Rather than requiring users to leave their workflow and open a separate AI chat window, Claude can now assist directly inside tools that millions of professionals use every day. This allows users to summarize emails, draft responses, brainstorm ideas, or discuss work projects through natural voice conversations.
The move highlights Anthropic’s broader strategy of embedding AI into existing productivity software instead of treating it as a standalone chatbot. As AI assistants become increasingly integrated into workplace applications, users may spend less time switching between tools and more time interacting with AI naturally throughout their workflow.
