Brave’s Leo AI Now on iOS

Brave’s AI assistant, Leo, is expanding its reach to iPhone and iPad users after its successful launch on Android and desktop platforms. Leo offers various features such as answering questions, summarizing content, creating reports, and more. One notable addition for iOS users is voice-to-text capability, enabling users to speak their queries instead of typing them out.

Leo’s functionality includes summarizing pages or videos, generating reports, translating or rewriting content, transcribing audio or video, and even writing code. By providing these capabilities, Brave aims to offer a comprehensive solution within its browser, potentially reducing the need for external AI services like ChatGPT.

Leo comes equipped with access to several large language models (LLMs), including Mixtral 8x7B, Anthropic’s Claude Instant, and Meta’s Llama 2 13B. Mixtral 8x7B serves as the default LLM for Leo, but users can opt to switch to other models or upgrade to Leo Premium for enhanced features at a monthly fee of $14.99.

Brave isn’t alone in the browser AI space; Opera introduced its AI assistant, Aria, in collaboration with OpenAI last year. Aria functions similarly to Leo, offering instant responses to user queries via a chatbot-like interface.

For iOS users interested in utilizing Leo, they can access it by updating to Brave browser version 1.63 and selecting “Ask Leo” from the address bar. Leo is an opt-in feature and can be disabled through the app’s settings.

Overall, Brave’s expansion of Leo to iOS aims to enhance user experience by providing convenient access to a wide range of AI-powered tools directly within the browser environment.
